Sweeping

Clean chimneys are safer for use and help the environment by assisting the complete combustion of the fuel, which in turn reduces emissions to the atmosphere.

The Sweeps` Role:

The primary job of the Chimney Sweep is to aid in the prevention of chimney fires and
reduce the risk of dangerous fume emissions from blocked heating appliances, flue ways and chimneys.

National Association of Chimney Sweeps:

1.All NACS members are fully insured and work to a code of practice
2.A certificate of chimney sweeping is issued on completion of work
3.NACS members may also provide valuable advice on operating your appliance safely and efficiently and any remedial work that might be necessary

Cleaning the chimney

1.Modern chimney sweeping is an efficient and clean process
2.This means eliminating the build up of soot from coal, wood, oil and gas fire systems
3.It means clearing obstructions such as birds and animals nest, leaves and building debris, even cobwebs etc

To help protect you and your home, insure the chimney is brush swept at least twice yearly

NACS recommendations that chimneys using the following fuels are cleaned...

1.Smokeless fuels - at least once a year
2.Bituminous coal - at least twice a year
3.Wood - quarterly when in use (more important if burning fresh wood)
4.Oil - once a year
